Surrounded by prayer

A labyrinth, a prayer room and prayer stations at different places in the Tampa Convention Center will assure that General Conference delegates and visitors have places to pray – and that prayer surrounds them throughout the 11-day session.

Prayer support organizers ask every United Methodist to:
  • Pray for the delegates as they prepare for the assembly.
  • Pray for God's will to be clearly discerned throughout the decision-making.

"My vision is that prayer will really be a foundation for General Conference," said Frances Jennings, chair of the Florida Conference Spiritual Formation Task Team. "I pray that the prayers of God's people will undergird the entire General Conference, and regardless of which side of the issues we are on, we will pray and seek God's will for each thing that we do."

The Upper Room will provide a free 50-day prayer guide to use before and during General Conference. It will be translated into English, French and Portuguese and available to download from the General Conference website, Devotions for delegates to use as they prepare can be downloaded now.
